Rajasthan Extends Urban Jobs Scheme to 42 New Municipalities

Following persistent protests by the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan in Bhim, the Rajasthan government has extended the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee scheme to 42 newly created Municipal Councils. The scheme mandates 100 days of guaranteed work, providing vital economic support to rural labourers who lost their MGNREGA benefits after their village panchayats were recently converted into urban local bodies.
