Invasive Senna Spectabilis Threatens Biodiversity in Male Mahadeshwara Sanctuary

Senna spectabilis, an invasive alien tree species, is rapidly spreading across the Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka. Characterized by bright yellow flowers resembling Kerala's state flower, this species aggressively outcompetes native flora, entirely depriving native herbivores of essential forage. Local forest departments are currently struggling to eradicate it, as its uncontrolled proliferation severely threatens local biodiversity and crucial tiger habitats.
