India Tightens Visa Extension Rules for Short-Term Foreign Visitors

The Union Home Ministry notified strict amendments to the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, mandating that foreigners on short-term visas must register before their visa expires if seeking an extension. Previously, registration was allowed within fourteen days post-expiry. Extensions will now be extremely limited to exceptional emergent medical or logistical circumstances only.
